Terms of service

1. You are the remitting party
VoIP Remit prepares, fills, calculates, reminds, and archives. It does not transmit anything to any agency, does not act as your agent or attorney-in-fact, and does not sign or attest to anything on your behalf. You review each period, you sign your own return, and you send it. Nothing in these terms or in the software changes who the state looks to for a filing: that is you.
2. No advice, and no determinations about your obligations
VoIP Remit is software, not a law firm, an accounting firm, or a tax adviser, and nothing it produces is legal, tax, or regulatory advice. It makes no determination about which states your business has an obligation in — you tell it which states you have registered, and it tracks those. Where a rule in the software matches, it reports the match as flagged for review and shows the rule and the inputs behind it. It renders no verdict on your filings either way, and it does not promise that using it will prevent any penalty, assessment, audit, or other outcome.
3. Your filing archive stays yours
Your line counts and your filed periods are your records. If your subscription lapses, read access to your whole archive stays open and export stays available — we do not hold a filing history back over a failed payment, because that record is what you rely on if a state comes asking. What lapses is clean new output: forms and packets generated without an active subscription carry the DRAFT watermark. If you close your account, export first; we will keep your data only as long as we need it to run the service and meet our own record-keeping obligations.
4. The trial
The trial runs the full computation on your own numbers. No payment method is required to start. It is not time-boxed: it ends when you subscribe. Forms and packets generated during the trial carry the DRAFT watermark and are not fit to file.
5. Subscription, billing, and cancellation
Subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or annually, at the tier that covers the number of states you have registered. Current prices are on the pricing page and are the prices that apply. If we change them, the change applies to your next renewal and not to a term you have already paid for. You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops the next renewal, and the archive terms in section 3 apply from then on. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details.
6. Accuracy, and what each side is responsible for
Each jurisdiction record in VoIP Remit carries the rate, effective date, citation, form identifier and revision, collecting agency, source URL, and retrieval date it was built from, and every one of those is shown on the output that used it. We work from primary sources and record what we could not verify as a visible gap rather than filling it in. Even so, states change rules, forms, and rates, sometimes without notice, and the figures you enter are yours. You are responsible for reviewing every period before you sign it, for the counts you enter or import and confirm, and for the filing you send. We are responsible for the software doing what this site says it does.
7. Acceptable use
One account represents one provider entity. Do not use the service to prepare filings for third parties as a service bureau, do not attempt to reach another account’s data, and do not attempt to defeat the entitlement checks or the artifact watermark. We may suspend an account that does.
8. Availability, warranties, and liability
The service is provided as it stands, without warranties beyond those that cannot be disclaimed by law. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability. To the maximum extent the law allows, Lyra Ventures LLC’s aggregate liability arising out of your use of the service is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim, and neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms materially, we will say so by email to the address on your account before the change takes effect. The date at the top of this page is when it was last changed.
10. Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any claim, other than a small-claims matter, will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York. Lyra Ventures LLC is a New York limited liability company.
